BACK AGAIN..
Summer has officially
come to an end; it’s been over 3 months of awesomeness, love, fun and solid
self-development. Some days when I got really bored I would go through my
Snapchat memories and I would really miss school and the stress. Now, it’s the
beginning of a new semester, the first for some and the beginning of the end
for many. It’s a journey you are never truly prepared to embark on and for me
it’s the continuation of a journey that will end in the next two and half
years, a tiring yet thrilling journey and I enter this new phase with a
surprisingly open mind and a heart that is ready to fight till the end.
Most of our friends are studying abroad or taking time off to build their businesses or just
going through a struggle they may not be able to share, whatever the case may be
don’t forget to check up on them, from my experience the biggest smiles often
hide the biggest fears, troubles and tears. Basically I write this post to
encourage us all, trust me no matter how strong or prepared you are this
journey called “school”, it has a way of getting through your barriers and
could make you wish you were selling pinpop instead.
Firstly,
take your mental health seriously.
Social media, standards and academic stress will worry your life if you get
carried away by them. Sometimes take a break to go out with friends, take some
time off social media (don’t worry you can still get back your streaks), take
yourself out on a date, try something new, take time to self-reflect and most
importantly don’t let the standards or lifestyle of others bother you.
Please stay away
from unnecessary drama. Nothing is more likely to give you stress and make
you worry for no reason than drama; trust me it comes in all shapes and sizes
especially in a school. Flee drama like a plague; learn to mind your business
and just live life without interfering with another’s happiness or success.
Stay hydrated and moisturized!!!
Deadlines are not there for fun, the earlier you get
them done the easier your life will become and that means more time to make
proper adjustments and get that awesome grade. You’re not an island make new
friends , get involved in campus activities, try new leadership roles, start a
club or an awesome activity or campaign. One of the worst mistakes you could
make in a university is not to properly develop yourself and network (to be
honest networking has a better chance of getting you recognized than that
degree), gain new skills, learn a language or two and explore your boundaries.
Seek help from whomever you deem trustworthy and
don’t be afraid to talk to your professors and ask questions about courses that
are difficult.
